Collection essentials #7: Crackpots (2600)

Crackpots has been one of my favorite Atari games since I first played it. You’re a dude at the top of a building, and there are waves of spiders coming up to infest the place that you have to fend off by tossing flowerpots down at them. Why flowerpots? No idea. Differently-colored spiders move in different ways. Curse those darn red ones!! The downside to this game is that, unlike a great many other Atari games, there are no options to speak of to alter difficulty or change up the gameplay, and that’s kind of puzzling because there totally could have and should have been. For example, every spider in a given wave will be of the same color. Why not have a mode where different-colored spiders are mixed together?? No idea. My high score as of now is 81,550, but I’m sure I could beat that if I really tried.
