Collection essentials #8: Frogger (2600)

A very recognizable classic arcade game that was featured on a Seinfeld episode, this was one of the first games made by the legendary Konami, one of my favorite game developers of all time. In Frogger your goal is to avoid death as you cross a road and a river to get to the empty squares on the other side of the screen. For some reason, Frogger is the only frog in existence that can’t swim, so you must rely on logs and turtles to cross the water. It’s easy to see why Frogger is considered a classic, as it’s simple to pick up and play, yet challenging and addictive. While some compromises had to be made with the audio and visuals in porting from the arcade, Frogger feels right at home on the Atari and is definitely one of its best games.
