Update: posts to be less frequent

I started this series over a year and a half ago (at first just on Facebook, actually) and have been updating it as close to daily as I possibly can. At first I was making mostly short posts about Atari games, so it was a nice little quick routine thing to do. But then as I progressed through gaming history, my posts became longer and longer as I had more to say about the games. But I still maintained the daily impulse to make the next post on any day where I had a chunk of spare time at home.

I'm glad I'm doing this blog and I intend to keep it going. But I'm realizing now that it's just taking up too much of my time. There are a lot of things in life that I want to invest my precious time in, and I'm realizing that this blog is just taking up too much of it right now. One of those things is...actually playing my dang video games. What a thought! It's been a lot harder to find time for games when I'm spending 1-2 hours per day making a blog post any day that I have a decent amount of free time.

Part of my thinking in making it daily was to get my initial list over with relatively quickly, and then I'd be free to do whatever I please in my spare time. I'm more than halfway through my initially-drafted list now, but even on a daily basis it's still going to take me over a year to get through the rest of it. And there's just too many other things in the coming year that are competing for my time to do one of these with the frequency that I've been doing them.

I'm not sure exactly specifically what my frequency of posting is going to be going forward. I may just choose to post on weekends. Or perhaps I'll allot a modest amount of time each day to working on the next post, and force myself to stop when the time is up. This means it'll likely take me several years to finish the initial list instead of just a year and change. But, hey, I'm still pretty young, and a few years isn't all that much in the grand scheme of things.

By the way, when I say "initial list", I mean that once I've "finished" posting about the essentials for all my systems, I still plan to infrequently go back and make new posts when I play/acquire games in the future and then decide that they belong.

Thank you for reading! If you have any thoughts on this matter then feel free to share them with me.
